When I was given the chance to be both a tour guide and a tourist at the same time, I totally jumped at it. By the way, I am a way better tourist that I am a tour guide (don’t ask me anything about names, dates, historic events, kings or queens).
My friend and colleague Allissa Haines, massage therapist and marketing guru (and foodie!) tagged me on instagram. Say what? It turned out that one of her twitter friends, fellow therapist, yoga instructor and coach Zachary Avery, was in town (aka London) for a quick stopover on his way from the US via Europe to India (as you do).
A few instant message exchanges later and voila’! Zachary and I were sampling the delicious food from Borough Market. Being London, it then started to rain copiously but at least we found refuge at Southwark Cathedral (highly recommended if you haven’t been).
A walk down the Southbank unfolded a number of delights: the Christmas market offered plenty of food and drink plus lovely gift ideas.
I recommend getting some churros con chocolate from the Christmas market – and from Borough food market I can definitely vouch for the pulled pork sandwich from Hobbs. Oh, and for a posh Christmas present, check out the truffle stall too.
