Trying hard not to feel envious of Lynn Barber was a real challenge at Damian Barr’s Literary Salon on 14th April 2014 (held at the stunning Ladies’ Smoking Room at St Pancras Hotel Renaissance).
Lynn not only interviewed the Who’s Who that Matter but as a young journalist (working at Penthouse, no less) she got to spend 5 days in Paris with Salvador Dali. Each hour she spent with him was sheer performance: he always thrived on having an audience surrounding him, as the true narcissist he was.
There was also a fantastic reading by Louise Welsh of her book A Lovely Way to Burn, which was intriguing and alarming at the same time.
David Nicholls read from his upcoming book Us, which is still unpublished and it was a pure joy to listen to him.
