A mighty howl from Jarvis Cocker detonated a spontaneous standing ovation at the Barbican Centre for Michael Clark’s New Work 2012 performance. And if we did not comply and howl back we (the audience) would have been kept captive under Jarvis’ commanding instructions!
This must-see dance show at its last performance was a fireworks display with an extra element of fun: in the second half the dancers lost their pocker face and smiled playfully safe in the knowledge that their job was done.
I will miss having my Saturday night Michael/Jarvis entertainment fix. Roll on Jarvis’ Radio 6 Sunday afternoon show for any withdrawal symptoms.
