This short article is dedicated to Cyril and Betty, married for 62 years. The reason I would like to share this story is because we can all learn to share love, passion and interests with special people in our lives.
I had 10 minutes to spare and walked to St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden, it has a lovely manicured garden at the back. I sat opposite a bench dedicated to the memory of Cyril and Betty. Both creative types, they married in 1941. Betty met her “toy boy” who was one year her junior and probably fell in love with his wit and sense of humour. And his love of gardening. And she must have been a stunning singer, charming any men she met.
How do I know all of this? I don’t, but I like to think that theirs was a happy life sharing a common passion for the arts, in a house full of laughter and mind-stimulating conversations.
I want a life like that. Thanks Betty and Cyril, you are an inspiration.
